Sedef Doganer named Docent in Turkey
Sedef Doganer, an assistant professor in the College of Architecture at UTSA, recently received the title of “Docent” through the Council of Higher Education in Turkey. She applied for the Docent title in October of 2011. Seven full-time professors reviewed the research, teaching, and service work submitted by Doganer and invited her back for the final examination on November 28, 2012.
Docent is a title used at some European universities to denote a specific academic appointment within a set structure of academic ranks below that of professor. In most cases, it is awarded to people employed as assistant professors with a distinguished international reputation in research after a rigorous review of their research.
