Announcement: IME Becas Scholarship
Eligibility: Mexican nationals or of Mexican origin
IME Becas ScholarshipThe IME BECAS Scholarship is a need-based program. Need is determined per methodology established by Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of Global Initiatives, and Dreamers Resource Center. The IME BECAS 2022 Scholarship is not a competitive scholarship and if awarded will NOT qualify the student to pay in-state tuition rates. In order to be considered, students must submit this form along with all required documentation by September 30, 2022. Award notifications will be sent to awarded students no later than October 5, 2022, and the award must be accepted no later than October 10, 2022.
The scholarships will range from $500 to $1,000 per student. The committee will designate award amounts based on essay and statement of financial need.
IME BECAS 2022: IME Becas es un programa del Gobierno de México que busca ampliar las oportunidades educativas de los mexicanos en el exterior y está dirigido o las estudiantes de bajos recursos. Ofrece estimulos económicos con el objetivo de apoyar a estudiantes de origen mexicano para comenzar, continuar, y terminar estudios superiores fuera de su país de origen: México.
Es un programa del Gobierno de México, por conducto de la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores y el lnstituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME), operado con los esfuerzos de su red consular en el extranjero y este año con el apoyo de San Antonio-México Friendship Council (SAMFCO) organización de San Antonio, Texas así como la Universidad de Texas en San Antonio.

Eligibility criteria:
• Undergraduate student of Mexican origin must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
• Graduate student of Mexican origin must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Maintain good academic standing and Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined by Financial Aid & Scholarships
• Enrollment (taking classes) as a UTSA student the semester prior to summer session
• Must be enrolled fulltime and be designated as degree-seeking
• Demonstrate financial need
Required Documents:
A 250-word statement explaining how she/he is a good ambassador for Mexico and how she/he represents Mexico at UTSA.
A statement fully explaining the need for financial assistance. Include any recent change in financial situation and explain why the total amount of funding necessary for Fall 2022 cannot be obtained. You may attach any additional support documentation, but it is not a requirement to do so for consideration.
UTSA must verify that the selected students are Mexican nationals or are of Mexican origin by requesting one of the following documents: Mexican birth certificate, Mexican birth certificate of their parents, Mexican passport, Consular ID Card or Mexican elector’s identification (IFE or INE).
